madura

We left Yogyakarta in search for a less touristed place to explore.
We ended up in Madura, a Muslim fishing island village. It was horrible!
The rooms were expensive, the locals were bitter and unhappy,
and the beaches were dirty... Some locals even threatened to fight with Brian!
We were harassed almost the entire time we were in Java and even in Madura!
We managed only to take this picture: a seaside cemetery.

   
We escaped Madura and headed back to Java.  We decided not go back to
Jakarta because it sucks: rooms are expensive and the people, aggressive.
We went to another major city on Java: Surabaya.  It wasn't all that much better, and there's
really nothing there to see other than the zoo, so here's Brian and some pelicans.
We are happy to report that the zoo was okay.
